1897 Indian Print - Sunset of a Dying Race - A. C. Redwood

This is an original A. C. Redwood Print. It is in its original frame.

Allen Christian Redwood was one of the few sketch artists of the Civil War who actually fought in military battles, and his documentation was of noted historical value to the Southern side of the War. By the 1890s, he was a western illustrator for Harper's, Century and other magazines and traveled widely in the West. In 1898 Harper's sent him to Cuba to cover the Spanish American War.

This is a beautifully detailed print, documenting Native American life in the late 1800s. The print is in fairly good condition, although it does have some staining around the edges. there is no foxing, and there are no rips or tears on the print.

 Signed A. C. Redwood 1897

The print's image area measures 17 1/4" wide x 12" high. The frame dimensions are - 23 1/2" wide  x 17" high.

Due to the reputation of the artist, the historical value, the size of the print, and the condition we estimate that this print would bring at auction $300.00  to $500.00.
