Art Deco Etching  - 1924 - Naughty Rene Gockinga

This is an Art Deco print by Rene Gockinga, dated 1924. He made his reputation as an illustrator of naughty satirical themes ("The Golden Ass") under the name Martin Van Maele. He worked in Paris and Brussels around the turn of the century, and along with Aubrey Beardsley is considered one of the most important artists and illustrators of his time.

The print and frame are in good condition with the exception of a small tear in the upper left of the print. There is no foxing or staining on the print.

The print's image area measures 6" wide x 9" high. The frame dimensions are - 10 1/2" wide  x 14 1/4" high. With the exception of a small tear which is hardly noticeable, the print is in very good condition, with no staining or foxing. It is in its original carved wood frame. The frame is beautiful and in very good condition.

Due to the age of the print, the Art Deco style, the reputation of the artist, and the very fine detail of this etching, we estimate that this print would bring at auction $75.00 to $150.00
