Early Signed Vintage Print - 1902 - by Howard Chandler Christy

This is a rare, early Howard Chandler Christy print  of a horse and rider jumping a fence. It is in very good condition.  There is no staining or foxing, rips or tears, that would spoil the print.

Howard Chandler Christy (1873 - 1952) was one of America's most distinguished illustrators, whose work, like that of Norman Rockwell, successfully captured the pulse of the nation. His career was established when he worked for Scribner's Magazine and Leslie's Weekly beginning in 1898 doing illustrations of articles and stories during the Spanish-American War. After that he was most sought after for his lush portraits of women.

The print measures 6" wide x 8" high. It is an old wood frame which measures 6 3/4" wide x 8 3/4" high. Both the print and frame are in very good condition. A rare example of Howard Chandler Christy's early work.

Due to the prestige of the artist, the fact that this is a relatively rare and early example of Howard Chandler Christy's work, and the age of the print itself, we estimate that this print would bring at auction $75.00 to $150.00
